From April 6th to July 15th 2012 GAMeC - Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo and the Municipalty of Bergamo – Council for Culture present the exhibition project Arte Povera in città.
The exhibition is part of the big event Arte Povera 2011 curated by Germano Celant, promoted by Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea in Rivoli (Turin) and the Triennale in Milan and coordinated by Electa.
In Bergamo, the Arte Povera in città event will unfold in two separate stages. First, from March to June 2012 a promotional campaign composed of 13 artistic posters will “take over” the city, forming a creative invasion of visual and sculptural images proposed by the leading players of this research and pervading the entire urban fabric.
The second moment, concentrated in the Città Alta, or upper part of the city, will see the installation of important works in some of its most representative places. Therefore, through the direct involvement of artists, historic and new works, specifically reinterpreted for the exhibition, will be presented in order to offer an unusual and surprising look at the visual language as well as the urban setting.

The Historic Grand Prix of Bergamo is the historical reconstruction of the famous city of Bergamo Cup race held in 1935, which was attended by none other than Tazio Nuvolari. Since 2004 he held a prestigious evocation that draws a large audience and wonderful vintage cars: cars are allowed formula, sports boats and coaches covered wheels. The 2012 edition provides the usual circuit that winds along the medieval walls of Bergamo Alta. For the first time are also provided races for vintage bikes, real news this year.

The International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo is one of the most significant world dedicated specifically to the piano, both as a solo instrument and as a partner of prestigious orchestras.
Born in 1964 thanks to conductor Agostino Orizio, the Festival measures the pulse of international pianism hosting for over forty years, the most famous orchestras and soloists in beautiful frames of Teatro Grande in Brescia and the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo.
At the Festival appeared not only the greatest pianists, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, the protagonist of the first five editions, Magaloff by Richter to Arrau, Pollini, Ashkenazy, Radu Lupu, Zimerman, Brendel, Martha Argerich, Evgeny Kissin, Grigory Sokolov, but also musicians, singers and conductors such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Mischa Maisky, Uto Ughi, Luciano Pavarotti, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Gergiev, Giulini, Sawallisch, Solti, Maazel, Chung. Among the outstanding orchestras and the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the National de France, the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Philharmonic Scale.
One of the characteristics that distinguish the festival from similar events is its appearance in issue, a theme that, in turn, focuses on an author, a cultural environment, a particular historical period.
The Festival in recent years has experienced major changes with the handover, as regards the artistic direction, from Agostino Orizio to his son Pier Carlo Orizio to the new president Andrea Gibellini, succeeding Philip Siebaneck.
Under the guidance of the Festival Pier Carlo Orizio has embarked on a new road between contemporary music and classical repertoire such as happened in 2007 and 2008, respectively devoted to Beethoven and Chopin and Arvo Pärt and Bernstein.
